By commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency (KHOA), a partner organization for marine clusters, Korea National Maritime Museum (KNMM), is jointly holding the exhibition ‘Our sea depicted on ancient navigational charts.’
KHOA has been collecting, analyzing, and predicting various marine information in Korea for the past 70 years, starting with the establishment of the hydrographic Division under the Operations Department of the ROK Navy on November 1, 1949. Now it’s being developed under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
Currently, KHOA conducts ocean surveys, hydrographical surveys, collection and analysis of marine observation data, and forecasts of the sea patterns in Korea. As a guide of our sea, KHOA is actively supporting safe navigation for ships and marine activities for the people.
In this exhibition, KNMM commemorates the 70th Anniversary of KHOA, and prepared a place to review 70 years of KHOA. Through this exhibition, we hope it will be a time to dream of a new future where people and the sea come closer together.
